Hannah Hoyt sings with a sparkling, youthful voice that lends itself to portrayals of ingenues and young girls. Her most repeated representative role is Gretel in Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel,” an opera she will have performed 53 times by the end of 2017.
Her 2017-2018 season includes engagements as Barbarina in "Le Nozze di Figaro" with Lyric Opera Studio Weimar (Germany debut), Lucy in “The Billy Goats Gruff” with Opera Carolina’s Opera Xpress Tour, Gretel in “Hansel and Gretel” with Central Piedmont Opera, and Mabel in “The Pirates of Penzance” and Gretel in “Hansel and Gretel” with the Little Opera Company of Charlotte.
Recent roles include Annina (La Traviata) and Sarah (Connection Lost: The Tinder Opera) with Opera Carolina, Adele (Die Fledermaus) with Little Opera Company of Charlotte, Shepherd Boy (Tosca) with Central Piedmont Opera, and Despina (Cosi fan Tutte) with Mosaic-Arts.
Ms. Hoyt made her professional debut at Boston Symphony Hall at age twenty-three, singing Maria in “Maria and Draco” with the Final Fantasy: Distant Worlds 25th Anniversary Tour. She is a company member of Opera Carolina, and holds degrees in Vocal Performance and Film Scoring from Berklee College of Music.
